Scholarship Applications will be accepted beginning Friday, July 15, 2016.

Scholarship Requirements


There are no age restrictions. The scholarship is open to any student entering his or her sophomore year of college or higher (or equivalent).

Need-Financial Status

Students from low income families, who have been unsuccessful in obtaining financial assistance through the normal FAFSA sources, will be given special consideration.


As part of the application process, the candidate will be asked to choose a topic from the following list and write a 500-800 word essay:

  • Why I should be considered for the scholarship

This essay will be included when the application is submitted.

Extra Curricular Activities

The candidate should list his/her extracurricular activities such as sports, community service projects, clubs, jobs and any other activities. This should also be included in the essay portion of the application.

Deadline for Application: Sunday, August 21, 2016

Scholarship recipients will be notified by Friday, August 26, 2016.

NOVA Corporation is a Navajo Nation-owned IT services company awards scholarships to Navajo college students in the fields of Computer Science, IT, Business, and Engineering. The scholarships will begin in the fall of the award year and will be a minimum award of $500 per semester to recipients.


Individuals must be an enrolled member of the Navajo tribe and must be able to provide a Certificate of Indian Blood.


The candidate's cumulative GPA must be at least 2.0


The school of choice must fall into one of the following categories and be accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)

  • Public or private
  • Non-profit and degree-granting
  • For-profit, career-based, single-purpose institutions; both degree and non-degree
  • Religiously affiliated and doctrinally based institutions; specifically non-profit and degree-granting

Fields of Study

The candidate must be enrolling in a field of study for which NOVA requires expertise. Following is the qualifying list:

  • Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Business
  • Communications
  • Computer Science

To receive the scholarship, the candidate must declare a major in one of the specified fields of study and must be enrolled in a qualifying field of study at the beginning of the fall semester.
